According to a report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple's future plans for wearables could include AI-powered smart glasses as well as AirPods with cameras.
Both concepts are at the “exploration stage”.
It is reported that smart glasses will be equipped with a large number of sensors, AI functions and powerful batteries. While the device looks like a cheaper head-mounted wearable (compared to the Vision Pro), it is not marketed as an augmented reality computer with high-quality transparent displays. Instead, Gurman compares Apple's idea to Meta's Ray-Bans, which have a camera and an AI assistant but no display.
Last year, Apple started thinking about developing new AirPods, codenamed B798. They will likely be the same size as the current version – but will be equipped with low-resolution cameras and will also use artificial intelligence to assist users in everyday activities.
Gurman also recalls long-standing plans for an Apple smart ring, which still has its supporters in Cupertino, but there is no talk of active development.
