This week, on February 28, the remaster of Star Wars: Dark Forces from Nightdive Studios will be released. Technical specialists from Digital Foundry have released a review of the updated version of the game Star Wars: Dark Forces. In the video below, Digital Foundry focused on comparing the remaster with the original game.
The Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster game itself has been completely updated by the developers using their own KEX engine, which has previously proven itself in other remasters. On modern game consoles, the remaster of Star Wars: Dark Forces runs at 4K resolution at 120 FPS. The game received high-resolution textures and improved lighting compared to the original. The developers also improved the controls, but otherwise retained the classic gameplay of the original.
On all platforms where Digital Foundry tested the game, Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster runs at a stable frame rate. Only on Switch there are slight drops in FPS from 60 to 55-57 fps. At the same time, graphically the version for Switch is no different from other console versions of the game.
