With “The Rising Tide,” a second DLC for the role-playing game “Final Fantasy 16” is in development at Square Enix. As the publisher announced, we can look forward to fresh impressions and details about “The Rising Tide” next month.
After the PS5 release in June of last year, Square Enix released the role-playing game “Final Fantasy 16” in December „Echoes of the Fallen“ mentioned DLC.
However, it won't stay with DLC. Instead, the responsible development team is already working on additional content. These will appear in the form of the DLC called “The Rising Tide”. As Square Enix announced at the start of the new week, we can finally look forward to fresh details and impressions of the second DLC for “Final Fantasy 16” in a few weeks.
According to today's announcement, Square Enix is using PAX East 2024 in Boston to host a “Final Fantasy 16” panel to talk in detail about the upcoming mini-expansion. Also on board are producer Naoki Yoshida, “The Rising Tide” director Takeo Kujiraoka and localization director Michael-Christopher Koji Fox.
The panel in question will take place on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. our time. On Twitch you can follow the event live.
This is known about The Rising Tide
Those responsible at Square Enix have not yet been able to elicit too many details about “The Rising Tide”. As it is in the official announcement of the DLC, in “The Rising Tide” there is a confrontation between the protagonist Clive Rosfield and the legendary Eikon Leviathan.
The company also spoke of completely new challenges that we will face. Among other things, there is an unpleasant reunion with the Tonberry, which, according to director Kujiraoka, will be implemented a little differently this time than in the last “Final Fantasy” adventures.
According to Kujiraoka, the developers plan to make the Tonberry in “The Rising Tide” appear a little darker or scarier.
Square Enix has not yet given a concrete date for the second DLC of “Final Fantasy 16” and is only talking about a planned release in spring 2024. The release date may be revealed at PAX East 2024 next month.
Director Kujiraoka stated the playing time of the second DLC in December as around ten hours. However, he left it open whether he was just referring to the main story or also possible optional content.
The two DLCs for “Final Fantasy 16” can be purchased either individually or in the form of the expansion pass. This is available for 24.99 euros and includes both DLCs.
