Despite the manageable test ratings, the strange shooter “High on Life” became a commercial success for the developers at Squanch Games. In collaboration with Limited Run Games, the studio has now announced a physical release.
In December 2022, the indie studio Squanch Games released the shooter “High on Life” for the PC and Xbox consoles and landed despite the manageable metascore of 67 points a surprise hit.
For example, “High in Life” secured the title of the largest third-party launch in Xbox Game Pass to date. After there was talk of 7.5 million players in April of last year, implementation for PlayStation consoles followed in the summer of 2023.
However, all platforms supplied had one thing in common: Since “High in Life” only appeared in a digital version, collectors came away empty-handed. Anyone who has always wanted to put the shooter on their shelf at home is in for a treat.
In collaboration with Squanch Games, Limited Run Games announced both a physical version and a Collector's Edition of High on Life for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Pre-orders start this week
The retail version is priced at $49.99 and includes the main game and the High on Knife DLC. The Collector's Edition, which costs $99.99, includes all the contents of the retail version. Plus the game's original soundtrack, a poster, a 48-page art book, a Knifey keychain, a Mopley stress ball and a sheet of stickers.
Both versions can be pre-ordered starting tomorrow, Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 6 p.m. our time. Those responsible have not yet given any concrete release dates. Instead, Limited Run Games only says on the official website that the Standard version will be released sometime during July 2024.
Die Collector’s Edition However, it will take a while longer to arrive and is currently scheduled for release in August 2024.
“High on Life” transports you to a game world whose story and characters were created by the creative minds behind the cult series “Rick & Morty”. According to the developers, “High on Life” scores with both its unusual game world and its crude humor.
You take control of a protagonist who becomes an unwilling hero after graduating from high school and is suddenly faced with the task of saving the Earth from being conquered by an aggressive alien cartel.
Together with a team of talking weapons that have been given unique abilities, you take on the fight against the invaders.
