Human Mobile Devices (HMD), which produces phones under the Nokia brand, did not present new devices at MWC 2024 this time, but promised to start releasing new products this summer.
HMD also announced a collaboration with the American toy manufacturer Mattel, widely known for the release of the Barbie doll. As part of the new partnership, HMD will release a new Barbie-themed flip phone in July. In addition to the form factor, all that is known about the new phone is that it will be pink – the company did not disclose any technical details, only specifying that it will be a “retro-functional” device.
In addition, HMD announced plans to release a new Nokia-branded phone in May. Considering that the company recently announced that it would abandon the use of the Nokia brand in its smartphones, we are talking about a push-button device. In any case, HMD’s press release issued during MWC 2024 states: “You will continue to see Nokia phones…”. On the other hand, the abandonment of the brand may be gradual, and the company decided to finally release another smartphone under the once popular brand.
Also, judging by the presented roadmap, two HMD smartphones will be released in July, about which nothing is currently known.
