Yoko Taro, the ever-exciting protagonist of the NieR series, has reportedly confronted publisher Square Enix president Takashi Kiryu during a concert in London. Both men were apparently present at a performance of the NieR: Orchestra Concert earlier this month, when Taro asked the audience to clap and cheer as loudly as possible so Kiryu would know how big the fans' appetite for a sequel is. According to one member of the audience, the room immediately and predictably erupted in clapping, cheering and screaming. Even more intriguing, however, was the alleged repeated use of the word “REPENT” as part of a dialogue. During recent usage, the spelling changed to REP3NT, leading some fans to speculate that it was a meaning or even a potential subtitle of NieR 3 could act.
NieR is just constantly in the collective consciousness of fans, which can't be a bad thing. It's been seven years since Automata and three since the release of Replicant.
