Sony announced Passkeya new way to log in to your account on PlayStation consoles, then on PS5 and PS4, which will provide greater security than the current password-based system: “which have been a limitation in both how an identity can be protected and how someone can quickly and easily access experiences if a password is forgotten, compromised, or simply difficult to insert onto a particular device.”
So here are passkeys, which adhere to FIDO (Fast Identity Online) standards, an alternative option to passwords that Sony believes it is the next step “in offering our community a more convenient and safe way to access and enjoy all the amazing experiences PlayStation has to offer.”
What are Passkeys?
Passkeys are digital credentials automatically generated using encryption, usable via mobile or PC systems. Using you will be able to access platforms and devices using a single passkey per online service. There will no longer be a need for passwords, but you can use facial scanning, fingerprints or a PIN.
If you want, you can immediately configure your Passkey starting from here.
