The Ted series, a prequel to the bear movies, comes to SkyShowtime Spain with a dose of Seth MacFarlane-style pranks in a nineties sitcom.
In recent years, the comedy genre on television has given a twist to its idiosyncrasy and given it a transgressive dimension that revolves around tragedy. Some like to call it “tragicomedy.” The reality is that they have given us extraordinary dramas coated with intelligent and biting humor.
Yes, I am referring to masterpieces like BoJack Horseman (Netflix) or Fleabag (Prime Video), among many other examples. I can also mention Rick and Morty, a series of comedy that plays in another league and that has managed to maintain its identity over a few seasons, something difficult to maintain at the present.
However, although there have been magnificent representatives of the sitcom genre on televisionthe truth is that we have lost countless productions with the sole purpose or the sole intention of making people laugh with episodes synthesized in 20 minutes and stupid, sly, simple, innocent humor and I could even describe it as “adolescent.”
There are those who would say that all this politically correct, postmodernist narrative and other ideological shadows included in an invisible agenda have caused the destruction of those television productions that I mention. I will not deny that there has been something of that; especially, at a social level. In short, times have changed.
And, if times change, so do the tastes of the audience. That means that, by doing simple scouting, a studio can understand that those types of sitcom series from yesteryear are no longer going to work in the same way; that the sensitivity of the spectators has mutated towards other environments much more complex and profound, more dramatic and, yes, tragicomic.
Maybe that's why series of Tednow available on SkyShowtime, I found it to be one of the most nostalgic and fun experiences in recent years. It has been like going back to the past through a sitcom with simple and direct, aggressive and offensive humor, everything that some say they have erased, but that I believe has simply run out of space.
The series of Ted a SkyShowtime It is exactly what the movies were, but in television format and with a nostalgic look at the 90s. In every way. Not only because it portrays the era through jokes, references and archetypes with the prequel story of those films that triumphed years ago; also because it is a purely nineties production.
I'm not joking. Well, that's what I think. The prequel to Ted It tells a story during the 90s, but it is also a production that emulates the experience of that decade. For a moment, it feels like you're seeing a symbiosis between the work of Seth MacFarlane and Malcolm in the Middle. A trip to the past in every sense, franchise and experience.
The return of the best version of Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy
SkyShowtime
Let's be honest: Seth MacFarlane hasn't invented anything. Rather, Seth MacFarlane is back to doing the only thing he knows how to do. If you like his work, you will love him. series of Ted a SkyShowtime; If, on the other hand, you hate the Family Guy style or the original Bear movies… Forget about this. No, you won't like it. In fact, it's going to piss you off considerably.
Honestly, I found it intoxicating. I hadn't realized how much I missed laughing in that stupid and liberating way, being aware of the identity of this type of comedy and without losing sight of the fact that it plays two simultaneous tricks: Seth MacFarlane uses the wild card of the 90s to continue doing the same thing as always.
I also know that the fact that I was a teenager when I met Seth MacFarlane and I fell irrevocably in love with Family Guy. I felt different, special, for saying that that series was better than Futurama or The Simpsons. Very teen, right? Trying to be different just for the sake of being cool. Stupid, but we've all experienced it.
Be that as it may, if you are a lover of Seth MacFarlane, Family Guy and the movies about Ted, among many other examples; If you are a lover of 90s sitcoms and the stupid and uncompromising humor that South Park launched… Then, definitely, this series from SkyShowtime Spain is exactly what you were looking for.

For my part, I admit that I enjoyed it like a real child. I'm back to being that teenager who was amazed by the bad jokes of Stewie and his company, at my grandmother's house, while she silently judged, shaking her head. “Youth, divine treasure.” My grandmother is no longer here, as is my adolescence… But at least the memories remain.
Ted It brought back those memories. Maybe someone can also go back in time with this series. Of course, I wish it. For me, it has definitely been worth it.
VALUATION:
The Ted series, a prequel to Seth MacFarlane's films, offers a sitcom in the purest style of the 90s and gives us a fun, frenetic and hooligan comedy based on fiction, but anachronistic in its forms. A nostalgic trip to the genre's past that will make you laugh more than once.
THE BEST:
Seth MacFarlane. He is still the same as always and his fans love that. Fun as he has us used to.
WORST:
It can feel a bit anachronistic in terms of humor, despite its narrative justification.
