A documentary about the anime hit “Solo Leveling” will soon be released on Crunchyroll, in which you can take a look at the fantasy adventure's path from webtoon skimming to anime hype.
With the bloody fantasy adventure „Solo Leveling“ A real anime hit was released at the beginning of January and took the hearts of numerous fans around the world by storm. Streaming provider Crunchyroll, where you can watch the series exclusively, now wants to take a look behind the scenes. As part of the IGN Fan Fest 2024, the company confirmed an upcoming documentary that will get to the bottom of the hype surrounding the show.
In keeping with the announcement, colleagues from… IGN also release a first trailer for the two-part documentary called “The Leveling of Solo Leveling”. As usual, you can watch the almost minute and a half long video yourself further down in the article.
Webtoon rise and anime hype
Shortly after the IGN Fan Fest 2024, an official announcement finally followed Crunchyroll, who go into more detail about the project in their own article. The upcoming documentary is intended to trace the development of the webtoon hit into an anime hype. For this purpose, the VOD provider has teamed up with the Paris-based production company AllSo. The two parts were filmed in both Japan and South Korea.
In Episode 1, “A Hunter Rises,” those behind the documentary speak to D&C Media in Korea. The company acts as a publisher of various webtoons and web novels. People from the webtoon studio Redice, who work on “Solo Leveling” and “Tomb Raider King,” among others, also have their say. The makers of the documentary want to revisit and illustrate the rise of the work as a webtoon megahit.
Episode 2, “Second Awakening,” then focuses on the “Solo Leveling” anime series. Those responsible in Japan are talking to the makers of the show about this. Among others, people from the Sony subsidiary Aniplex (“Demon Slayer”) and the Sony anime studio A-1 Pictures (“Granblue Fantasy: The Animation”) will have their say. More specifically, fans can look forward to discussions with the producers and director of the anime series.
“Solo Leveling” is based on a manhwa of the same name by author Chugong and artist Dubu. The series includes 14 volumes published from 2018 to 2021. The anime adaptation is being created by Studio A-1 Pictures and directed by Shunsuke Nakashige (“BanG Dream!”). So far you can join Crunchyroll Watch eight episodes of the fantasy adventure, six of which can also be dubbed into German.
“The Leveling of Solo Leveling” does not currently have a release date on Crunchyroll. However, further information on this will follow soon.
