Bloomberg reports today of mass layoffs within the British team Supermassiveknown for its horror games such as Until Dawn, The Quarry and The Dark Pictures Chronicles.
The internal reorganization would be drastic, according to what was reported by the newspaper: it involves a 30% reduction in the workforce with approximately 90 people made redundant, within a mobilization of staff that could have affected up to 50% of employees, or almost 150 people.
Among all those “at risk”, therefore, as many as 90, or about a third of the standard workforce, would be in the process of being fired within the team, with the news arriving practically at this time, at the start of the working week .

The Casting of Frank Stone, an enigmatic first image from the game
Supermassive Games is currently working on several projectsat least three of the known and rumored ones, and we therefore do not know what could happen to the titles in question considering the significant reduction in personnel imposed on the team.
Among the titles announced there is The Dark Pictures Anthology: Directive 8020, a new chapter in the long anthology series of horror adventures, as well as Little Nightmares 3 and also The Casting of Frank Stone, a project in collaboration with Behavior Interactive, authors of the famous Dead by Daylight.
While some of these are likely in advanced stages of development, it is possible that such a reduction in staffing could impact other future titles, such as possible sequels to The Dark Pictures Anthology which could be scaled back in terms of quantity and scope, in waiting for any announcements and confirmations in this regard.
