Offering something different in the realm of competitive FPS gaming is something that Ubisoft successfully offered with Rainbow Six Siege. A skill-based character system combined with a variety of actions that need to be planned when on the attacking or defending side in a small arena is the main attraction. Even though the room destruction system is not as “crazy” as originally planned, it has grown into a competitive FPS game with a fairly loyal community. Do you hope it will get a sequel in the future? Unfortunately, that wasn't Ubisoft's plan.
Rainbow Six Siege Creative Director – Alexander Karpazis confirmed that Rainbow Six Siege will not have a sequel. He emphasized that Siege currently runs on one of the best engines in the world which allows their team to deliver content faster, richer and more stable as best they can.
Ubisoft believes Rainbow Six Siege can live forever.
Therefore, forcing Siege to change engines is not an option at this time. Moreover, he also admitted that he reflected on the situation of other games which had forced the birth of a sequel series which required them to mix everything from the start and ended up failing. Karpazis believes Siege can live forever with the talent, team and tools they currently have.
Ubisoft has just announced the content for Year 9 Season 1 Rainbow Six Siege – Operation Deadly Omen which will also feature a new operator – Deimos. How about you? Still actively playing this game?
