Those: Blizzard
February 26, 2024 at 6:12 p.m. – A true bot pandemic has spread in World of Warcraft Classic – some places in Stormwind now seem to house more automated characters than real players. Is there a vaccination from Blizzard against the bot pandemic?
Yes, the bots – we all know them, nobody likes them. The same credo also applies to the Season of Discovery, which brought many players into phase two. After all, new content wants to be explored, without bot harassment.
But what if the “discoveries” are not as pleasant as initially hoped? The YouTuber Vixacious had this experience and promptly shared it with the public.

Effective containment measures look different
Location: The Realm “Lone Wolf” in one of the most beautiful cities in the Alliance, Stormwind – more precisely: the canals in front of the Mage's Quarter. There's a lot of hustle and bustle going on there, players running up and down, seemingly in a hurry – the characters run back and forth between the dungeon “The Dungeon” and the Enchanting Trader over and over again… but wait… that's about it no real players?
That's exactly what Vixacious reveals in his video: an almost uninterrupted stream of bots that automatically run the same route without a break – back and forth, back and forth. These bots perform a literally endless loop of dungeon runs, farming various items in the dungeon, and then usually selling them directly to the merchant. The gold generated is then often sold to other players – we have reported on possible consequences.

At the request and begging of the community, Blizzard had announced a tougher approach against botting – in the meantime, 120,000 accounts were banned per month in Wrath of the Lich King Classic, among other things because of the use of bots. Nevertheless, the measures do not seem to be having an effect, as can be seen from the Stormwind example.
More obvious than ever
The bots are now more visible to everyone than ever before, a result of Blizzard's recent reduction of “layers” in Stormwind. This measure has resulted in more characters being visible in the city at the same time. The bot problem is certainly not new, but it is becoming increasingly difficult for players to ignore. Effective measures seem to be a long time coming – where is the vaccination against the bot pandemic?
What do you think about using bots? In your opinion, is Blizzard not doing enough to combat this? What do you think are the reasons for the ineffectiveness of the measures? Or does Blizzard ultimately have no interest in the disappearance of the bots? Write your opinion in the comments and let us know what you think.
