Google Calendar has received a new exclusive update for iOS. iPhone and iPad users now have a trio of lock screen widgets.
“What’s next” for “See your upcoming events and tasks” is available in three settings. There is a circular widget that just indicates the time and a 2×1 rectangular option that includes the duration and title. You can also see this information in the widget space that appears above the time. Tapping opens the event page in Calendar, while Google will notice when there is “No Event.”
On the iOS home screen, Google Calendar already offers “What’s next” in 1×1 and 2×1 confirmations, as well as a useful “What’s next with monthly view”.
This joins lock screen widgets for other Workspace apps on iOS, including Drive and Gmail. Other Google apps that support this feature include Chrome, Google Search, Maps, News, Translate, and YouTube Music.
These lock screen widgets are being released with the version 24.7.0 of Google Calendar. After the update, some users indicate the need to restart the device for the new feature to take effect.
