Publisher The Pokemon Company (TPC) decided to celebrate International Pokemon Day by announcing the next major game in the series – Pokemon Legends: ZA. The presentation took place as part of the Pokemon Presents show.
The events of Pokemon Legends: ZA will unfold in the city of Lumiose City, familiar to fans of the franchise, which, as part of the redevelopment, they want to turn into a place suitable for both people and Pokemon.
The announcement trailer for Pokemon Legends: ZA does not contain a single gameplay footage, but it still managed to intrigue fans of the series. They were excited for two reasons.
The first is a return to the sixth generation region of Kalos, where Lumiose City is located. Secondly, because of the mega-evolution mechanics icon flashing at the end of the video, which has not appeared in games in the series for several years.
According to the official press release on The Pokemon Company's website, Pokemon Legends: ZA is being developed by Japanese studio Game Freak for “Nintendo Switch family systems.”
For comparison: at the announcement of previous games in the Switch series, it was mentioned without such clarifications. The wording implies that Pokemon Legends: ZA will be released not only on the current generation Nintendo Switch, but also on its successor.
Pokemon Legends: ZA is expected to release sometime in 2025. According to rumors, the premiere of Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for next March. It is quite possible that the new Pokemon will be one of the first games for the future console.
