Analytical firm Jon Peddie Research (JPR) began to summarize the results of the previous quarter in the segment of graphics cores for personal computers. In a published press release, JPR experts shared information about the volume of supplies of all GPUs, including graphics units built into the processor. In the last three months of 2023, 76.2 million video cores were shipped, which is 20% better than the same period in 2022.
This rapid growth is explained by a significant increase in processor shipments – 24% more CPUs were shipped last quarter than in October-December 2022. Considering that laptop processors rarely do without integrated graphics, shipments of GPU/iGPUs in the mobile segment immediately increased by 32%, and in the desktop segment, volumes decreased by 1% relative to the end of 2022.
Unfortunately, JPR experts do not provide information on the state of the discrete video card market. Unless there is a 6.8% increase in supply volumes compared to the third quarter of last year. As for the balance of power in the GPU/iGPU segment, the leader is still Intel with a 67% share, while Nvidia and AMD respectively own 18% and 15% of the market.
