The Supermassive Games studio, which is well known to fans of interactive cinema games, will undergo large-scale cuts. As reported by Bloomberg, about 90 employees are planning to be fired, which is about 25-30% of the total staff of specialists who work at Supermassive Games.
Information about plans for large-scale layoffs was confirmed by the Supermassive Games studio itself. They published a statement on social networks, where they said that after “much deliberation and with deep regret” they had decided on a “reorganization” that involved layoffs. On February 26, 150 studio employees received notice of the risk of layoffs. However, at the moment there is no exact information about how many specialists will be fired.
At the beginning of February this year, its founders left the Supermassive Games studio. The team is currently dependent on Avalanche Studios Group. The Supermassive Games studio itself has become famous for its interactive films, including the anthology The Dark Pictures, Until Dawn and The Quarry. The studio is currently also working on other projects. In particular, it has Little Nightmares III in development.
