Amazon Prime Video is communicating to all its subscribers that a change in the functioning of the streaming service will soon arrive. Quoting literally what the press release says: “Prime Video movies and TV series will include a limited number of advertisements”.
Amazon Prime Video: ads arrive from April
The service aligns with what was done in January in the USA. This change will go into effect in a few weeks, to be precise starting Tuesday 9 April 2024. “This innovation will allow us to continue investing in quality content and to increase these investments over time and consequently support the maintenance of the quality and quantity of the content included in Prime Video. We aim to have significantly fewer ads than linear television and other streaming services,” Amazon explained.
It will also be introduced an optional supplement for all those who want to eliminate advertising from the service. It will be enough for you pay €1.99 per month more to have a completely ad-free view. If you want to activate this option, just go to the Amazon Prime Video website at this address.
Advertisements instead They will NOT be included in films and TV series purchased outright or rented. While the operation of live events and sporting events will remain unchanged.
The service change comes before the release of the most anticipated series of this 2024. In particular The Boys: Season 4 which arrives in Junee the Fallout TV series that will be released shortly after the ads arrive.
