And in the next one – another 60 million pieces.
The Nikkei Asian Review asked Intel representatives what hopes the company has for PC central processors that are equipped with the function of accelerating artificial intelligence systems. According to Vice President David Feng, this year alone it plans to ship up to 40 million of these processors in the PC segment, and deliver another 60 million units next year. In fact, this already corresponds to 20% of the projected PC market capacity, not counting products from other processor suppliers.

Intel, for its part, believes it is important to collaborate with software developers to effectively use the resources of such processors and artificial intelligence systems. Deep work in this direction is being carried out with Microsoft; Intel processors are already helping viewers of broadcasts in real time translate sign language into English text, translate speech from one language to another, and also compose PowerPoint presentation slides using only their text description. Antivirus software developers are also ready to use the hardware resources of Intel processors to increase the level of information security of client systems.
