Update: contrary to what was initially reported, it is Final Fantasy 7 Remake that has received a patch for Tifa and not the new Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. We apologize for the confusion, the content has been edited for clarity.
There is very little left until the debut of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, already available for preload on PlayStation 5. To make the debut of the game more turbulent, a new controversy breaks out online around the “old” Final Fantasy 7 Remake regarding Tifa Lockhart's aesthetic appearance.
Apparently, Square-Enix's ethics department would not have liked the marketing campaign focused on Tifa's body and for this reason the publisher published a patch per Final Fantasy VII Remake so that a change to Tifa's appearance in a particular sequence of the game. As you can see through the post we reported at the bottom, during the flashback focused on the events of the Nibelheim accident, Tifa is now wearing a black top which makes the girl's look more sporty, still a minor here.
The complaints from Square Enix's ethics division seem to have arisen from the enthusiasm that the community showed upon the publication of a clip from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth with Cloud, Tifa and Aerith on the beach in swimsuits. Whatever the case, the fact remains that many players did not welcome the change and controversy broke out on social media. The Steam moderators even had to close the discussion that opened on the platform's forums due to how heated the tone had become.
While waiting for the new Square Enix game to be available on February 29 on PS5, we refer you to our Review of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
