The Sony factories involved in the production of disc versions of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth mixed up the discs for at least part of the game's circulation. The problem was reported by Square Enix, the company developing the project.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth comes on two discs: a data disc and a game disc. As a result of a manufacturing error, the game disc contains the content for the data disc, and the data disc contains the content for the game disc.
According to Square Enix, the problem is at least with the disc versions of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth for the Japanese market. It is not entirely clear whether drives produced for other regions were affected.
Now, the developers write, Sony is deciding what to do in connection with this incident. The final decision has not yet been made. If problems are encountered with the installation of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, players are advised to install the game from the Play Disc and use the Data Disk to play the game.
The release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will take place on February 29, 2024, the game will be released on PlayStation 5.
