A new, official Terminator game based on Dark Fate has been available since February 21st. With Dark Fate – Defiance it goes into the RTS genre and with Slitherine as developer and publisher, an expert in the strategy area is responsible.
How high is the approval?
As a reminder: As usual with an RTS, Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance has a single-player campaign and a multiplayer mode. In single-player, players take on the role of a commander who must thwart the Legion's plans to eliminate the rest of humanity. Your own army can be built up and improved over several missions. Outside the campaign you can choose from three factions: Founders, Legion and Resistance – all with their own units. The environments and buildings can be destroyed by shelling.

A stable opinion has now developed on Steam. A good 750 user reviews give an approval rating of 70 percent, which means “mostly positive”. It must be said that two hotfixes or patches have already been released since publication. The focus here is primarily on technical problems that lead to crashes and performance problems. And there also seem to be significant problems with widescreen and ultrawidescreen monitors. Gameplay bugs have now also been fixed.
The critical reviews on Steam are not just about the technology. Among other things, the tight level of difficulty is criticized. The maps are sometimes huge and therefore there is far too much going on in different places to micro-manage in peace. Anyone who liked C&C and base building might also be disappointed, because Dark Fate – Defiance plays significantly differently. The wayfinding AI is also criticized in some places. On the other hand, there are also many positive reports on Steam. The story and the campaign are particularly praised.
