As emerged in the last few hours, Nintendo has sued the authors of the Yuzu emulator, which allows you to play Switch games on Windows PC, Linux and Android devices. In addition, it also emerges a decidedly important fact relating to The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
In the correspondence filed with his lawyers, Nintendo accuses Yuzu of encouraging large-scale piracy of Switch games and in this sense he cites the case of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom which was apparently downloaded illegally by over a million people in a week and a half in May, before the official launch.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom sold 10 million copies in three days and then exceeded 18 million copies in August 2023, numbers that give an idea of the game's success. However, Link's latest adventure it was also dominated by piracy as confirmed by Nintendo and over a million players downloaded Zelda TOTK illegally before the market launch.
At the moment we don't know how the battle with Yuzu will end but Nintendo is (obviously) fully intent on enforcing its legal copyright rights to the game's source code and other assets.
