With the (temporary) disappearance of the VanMoof, the boulevard is clearer for Cowboy connected electric bikes, its main rival at the time. If others aspire to compete with them, like the French Angell or Iweech, it is by surprise that the Tenways CGO009 interferes in the fight. Remember at the end of October, a patent showed a duo of new products from the Chinese brand. It is therefore him (one of the two), whose name clearly links him to the brand's family of urban electric bikes, the CGO600 and CGO800.
Style and comfort
We don't know the meaning of “009” (600 backwards?), but this VAE clearly seems to be positioned in a more upscale and more comfortable segment. Always faithful to its careful design philosophy, Tenways applies the Cowboy recipe here with a slender look and large frame tubes, as well as integrated lighting.

The handlebars are curved and sleek like a Cowboy Cruiser, while this Tenways CGO009 includes mudguards and a rear rack as standard. To clearly mark the difference with the CGO600, the tires are very wide and the Royale saddle promises a minimum of cushioning of the buttocks in the absence of suspension.
Connectivity on board, but no screen
Like the firm's other models, the bike is connected, with a Tenways application revised in depth last year. This offers journey statistics, movement alerts, an after-sales service portal, or a counter. Because the CGO009 does not have a screen, but simply a control on the handlebars and three small LEDs to indicate the battery level.

The Tenways branded motor delivers 45 Nm // Source: Tenways
The Chinese electric bike is based on a Tenways C-9 rear motor with 45 Nm of torque, driving a belt (there is therefore only one speed), with a Boost button strongly reminiscent of the VanMoof. The battery has a fairly modest capacity of 374 Wh, whose range of 85 km seems very optimistic (or in Eco mode).
A very attractive price for the Tenways CGO009
This small battery is primarily used to avoid making the electric bike too heavy. Because the Tenways CGO009 only weighs 23 kg including battery, which does not make it very slender compared to the Cowboy or Angell (around 19 kg). Where Tenways stands out is in its price: 2,399 euros, which places it well below the Cowboy Cruiser. The Belgian rival charges 2,778 euros for equivalent equipment, while an Angell costs 3,000 euros.

However, the CGO009 only offers a single closed frame aimed at larger sizes (1.70 m to 2 m). Available from February 28, 2024, it comes in three colors: white-blue, olive green and black.
