Today, EA laid off 670 people, or 5% of its workforce, and went through restructuring. As part of the restructuring, the EA Star Wars game, which was being developed by Respawn within EA, was also cancelled.
The canceled EA Star Wars game was in the FPS genre
Following the announcement of the layoffs, EA CEO Andrew Wilson shared a briefing in which the company explained EA's future business priorities in more detail.
The information also includes which projects EA will and will not continue in the future. Unfortunately, the Star Wars game developed by Respawn Entertainment studio within the company is also among the canceled projects.
The full statement reads: “Abandoning a project is always difficult, and this decision is certainly not a reflection of the team's talent, determination, or passion for the game. “We want to give fans the continuation of the games they want, and we will continue to do so.”
We did not have any other information about the EA Star Wars game other than that it would be an FPS. Just among the rumors, there were rumors that our main character would be a Mandalorian.
