Microsoft completed its acquisition of Activision Blizzard in October 2023. As part of this merger, one of the teams that joined Xbox was Toys For Bob. She is known for creating the Spyro and Crash Bandicoot series. On February 29, it was announced that Toys For Bob is no longer part of Microsoft Gaming.
In its official blog, the Toys For Bob studio announced that it had separated from Microsoft and Activision, they are now independent. The developers said they were pleased with the opportunity to become independent and “get back to their roots.” Judging by the announcement, all rights to the franchises handled by the Toys For Bob team remained with Microsoft. Accordingly, the studio's games may soon appear on Game Pass.
The announcement states that Microsoft and Activision have been “extremely supportive” of the Toys For Bob team's desire to go independent. Microsoft, Activision and Toys For Bob are currently exploring how they can continue to collaborate in the future, but the teams have nothing to announce at this time.
At the same time, it is not specified what the future holds for the game Crash Team Rumble, which was released by the studio last year.
