At one time the company was valued at a higher price.
The Embracer Group holding is selling the Saber Interactive studio, Bloomberg sources say. According to the publication, the deal is valued at $500 million.
As a result of the transaction, Saber Interactive will become an independent company, and will not come under the control of another large holding company. Saber Interactive's staff is estimated by Bloomberg sources at approximately 3,500 people.
An interesting point: when the Embracer holding bought Saber Interactive in 2020, the studio was valued at $525 million. Thus, over 4 years the company has fallen in price somewhat.
Saber Interactive will be sold as part of the Embracer Group restructuring. The holding is cutting costs after the $2 billion deal fell through, closing projects and selling studios.
After the divorce from Embracer, the studio will retain the projects it is developing. In particular, work will continue on the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
Judging by message Bloomberg Jason Schreyer Embracer's next studio to go independent could be Gearbox Software.
