Genius is the right word for the narrative action that Remedy Entertainment has managed to build with at least two of their big titles – Alan Wake and CONTROL. Who would have thought that these two franchises would be successfully connected in the same universe, which makes the sequel series for both now something that is highly anticipated. Moreover, via Alan Wake 2 yesterday, Remedy also did not hesitate to present this connection explicitly, inviting curiosity as to what kind of madness the next CONTROL series could offer which has already been confirmed. For this last name, Remedy has even better news.
It turns out, oh it turns out, the ownership rights to the CONTROL trademark all this time did not belong to Remedy but 505 Games. The good news? Ownership eventually changed hands. Remedy ended up spending around 17 million Euros or around 290 billion Rupiah to get full CONTROL rights from 505 Games. This means that Remedy currently has the right to control the publishing process, distribution, marketing, and all other rights to CONTROL, the codename Condor, CONTROL 2, and all future CONTROL related projects. They call this purchasing process essential to ensure freedom to mix products and make appropriate business decisions in order to grow this franchise.
CONTROL is now officially fully established under the Remedy banner after purchasing trading rights worth 290 billion Rupiah from 505 Games.
Remedy itself has confirmed the CONTROL 2 development process, which is currently still a mystery. How about you? Are you looking forward to the continuation of this series?
