The “Crash Bandicoot” and “Spyro” developers from Toys for Bob are breaking away from Activision and becoming an indie studio again. The studio officially announced this in the evening hours.
There is currently chaos in the gaming industry. While Sony Interactive Entertainment, Electronic Arts, Microsoft and other well-known companies announced mass layoffs and studio closures Rockstar Games the home office for all employees. However, the development studio Toys for Bob has positive news for the fans.
Return to the roots
The developers behind “Spyro Reignited Trilogy” and “Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time” have announcedthat they will break away from Activision and become a privately held company again. So in the current market situation we will try again as an indie studio.
This is a particularly interesting development as it was previously reported that Toys for Bob had been affected by recent waves of layoffs and may be closing entirely. The studio has thus survived the current difficulties and is looking positively into the future, as the official statement suggests.
“This opportunity allows us to return to our roots as a small and fine studio. To make this news even more exciting, we are exploring a possible partnership between our new studio and Microsoft. And while we're in the early days of development on our new game and miles away from any announcements, our team is excited to create new stories, new characters and new gaming experiences.”
Toys for Bob in the official statement
The development studio remembers that they inspired “love, joy and laughter for the inner child” of the players. In the past, a new brand and new technologies had been created with “Skylanders”. And when they moved on to “Spyro” and “Crash Bandicoot,” they had, among other things, distinguished themselves with wonderful new editions.
Now you want to work on new projects with that same enthusiasm and passion. Both Activision and the new parent company Microsoft supported this decision. That's why the studio is sure that they will continue to work closely together in the future.
Finally, Toys for Bob would like to thank the community for all the support and looks forward to the new adventure as an indie studio.
We wish Toys for Bob all the best for the future and look forward to the further adventures that the creative team creates. As soon as relevant information is provided, we will let you know. You can discover further news about the latest problems in the gaming industry in our topic overview.
