It is still difficult to say what the full starting fees will be.
Pre-screenings of the second part of “Dune” brought in more than $10 million in the United States, Deadline reports, citing analyst data. As the publication notes, this is the best result since July 2023, when Oppenheimer was released.
At the start, “Oppenheimer” managed to collect $10.5 million, the October film adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy's earned $10.3 million on its first day. It is expected that the total opening fees of “Dune 2” will be at the level of these films, that is, they will be in the region of $80 million.
So far, Deadline writes, Dune 2 is about twice as fast as the first film. At one time, the first “Dune” earned $5.1 million from pre-screenings.
In addition, Dune 2 managed to outperform John Wick 4, also produced by Legendary Entertainment. The film grossed $8.9 million in pre-screenings, bringing the film's total opening gross to $73.8 million.
There are no forecasts for the total box office of Dune 2 yet. Most likely, the first figures will appear after the completion of the first week of rental.
