Il DualSense it was certainly one of the main innovations proposed on the hardware side by Sony to promote its ninth generation console. According to what a new patent recently filed by the Japanese company suggests, it seems that the controller may be further improved in the future.
The patent in question talks about an additional component that will work in synergy with the “controller for a multimedia entertainment system”, therefore presumably the DualSense. “The controller includes a weighted component connected to the controllerwhich is movable and rotating relative to the controller,” Sony's description continues. “The controller is configured to rotate the weighted component from an initial position to an end position to move the center of mass of the controller in response to a activation event. This movement of the weighted component provides directional tactile feedback to the controller user“. It therefore seems that Sony is interested in specifically improving the haptic feedback of the DualSense, in order to return aeven more immersive gaming experience for PlayStation 5 owners.
It is possible that this novelty could be proposed with a new model of the DualSense, perhaps to be combined with PlayStation 5 Pro, which according to analysts will be released at the end of 2024. At the moment, Sony has not yet expressed its opinion on the matter, so we just have to wait for any news from Hiroki Totoki's company.
