Gundam Factory Yokohama: chiusura a fine marzo 2024
As has been known for some time, the attraction installed in the port of Yokohama in Japan it will be permanently closed on March 31, 2024, and this time there will be no exceptions. Indeed at first the closure was scheduled for two years agobut the enormous success achieved and the COVID-19 pandemic, which blocked flights to Japan for a long time, convinced the creators to extend its activity.
The Gundam Factory Yokoama opened at the end of 2020, in the middle of the pandemic it was initially supposed to remain in operation only until 31 March 2022. But the organizers soon realized that the tourist flow was well beyond expectations, and there are those who still haven't had the opportunity to go and see it in person (like myself). Unfortunately it is now too late… the last tickets will go on sale from todayand at the end of the month we should say goodbye to this mammoth work.
The huge robot installed in the port of Yokoama is 1:1 scale, 18m high and with a 25m high superstructure that acts as an anchor deck and equipped with walkways for visitors, allowing them to admire it up close. The attraction area covers a total of 9,000m2 and is not limited to just the robot. In fact, he will be there alongside him an interactive museum dedicated to anime, an exclusive merchandise shop and the inevitable Gundam Café.
