The franchise journey Star Wars on Disney+ has been a pleasant surprise for fans. From The Mandalorian to Ahsoka, Lucasfilm has managed to get the saga back on track after the critical setback of Star Wars IX, and hopes to continue raising its quality with the arrival of new productions far from the Skywalker saga.
One of those that has stood out in recent months has been Andor, starring Diego Luna, which has gained a good number of followers since its premiere. Now, actor Stellan Skarsgård, who plays Luthen Rael, has praised the series in an interview with Vanity Fair and claims that it is “Star Wars for adults.”
“Human beings are more than two characters. We are different when we meet with our family and when we are with our friends and when we are… It's a kind of natural state, but played two characters here in Andor, or it was like… “First of all, it was very well written. It was Tony Gilroy who wrote it. It's like Star Wars for adults. It's a very oppressive society, it's a fascist society, and you feel its presence. The characters are very well drawn.”
The actor praises above all how the characters are treated throughout the series and how the atmosphere created around the program is much more serious than what has been seen in other installments of the saga. In addition, he highlights the development of the protagonists, as well as the intentions of each one and the background behind all of them.
His respect towards Andor is so great that in another interview he compared his character with some of the most important revolutionary political figures in history, such as Che Guevara or the German Red Army Fraction, since issues are raised that go beyond being good or bad, and where it is shown that the characters are neither white nor black, but gray.
