Dell confirms the release of new Nvidia accelerators based on Blackwell architecture this year. Specialized devices for artificial intelligence computing were previously announced in Nvidia's roadmap. According to Dell, Nvidia B100 will be presented this year, and their first announcement will take place at the GTC 2024 exhibition, which starts at the end of this month. Dell, as one of the leading server hardware suppliers, is already preparing systems with future devices.
The Dell report also mentions the release of the B200 in 2025. Previously, Nvidia's plans included a GB200 device, which is the name of a new platform for so-called “superchips.” And the B200 is probably a separate variant of the B100 with faster memory. The current generation first introduced the H100 GPU with HBM3, and then the H200 with HBM3e. In Blackwell's case, the first B100 processor will already have the latest HBM3e memory, meaning the B200 will have even faster memory.
Journalists also draw attention to the phrase in the relativity report that direct water cooling will not be required at a power of 1000 W. This hints at the impressive TDP of future Blackwell accelerators. But Dell is likely prepared for this scenario and is cooling its systems using traditional air cooling methods.
