Those: Blizzard
March 4, 2024 at 10:03 a.m. – It can always happen that WoW players are wrongly banned. But this case is very absurd – because the player in question literally did nothing.
In an MMORPG like WoW, there are not only a lot of NPCs hanging around, but also countless players, all looking for their own advantage. There are rules set up by Blizzard to ensure that everything happens in Azeroth in a civilized manner. Anyone who violates this and is caught will face a penalty in the form of a suspension – better known as a ban penalty!
This ban punishment can only last a few hours or it can be permanent. In the latter case, you can say goodbye to your account and, if you want to continue playing, you have to create a new account and start over.
Unfortunately, there are always hair-raising errors when it comes to banning penalties. This is probably due, among other things, to the fact that customer support has now been outsourced and there are hardly any game masters left anyway – as a funny experiment has proven.
The ban penalty now imposed on a player is the crowning glory of the whole thing. Because the player was literally banned for doing nothing.

Inappropriate name in WoW (buy now)? banishment penalty!
There are also guidelines about which names can be used in WoW. The names of important NPCs are banned, as are swear words or discriminatory expressions. On the RP servers the rules are even stricter. Players who violate this rule and are caught or reported by other players will face two penalties.
On the one hand, the player is automatically renamed, and on the other hand, in serious cases there is a risk of a ban. So far it's nothing out of the ordinary. This rule also applies to your pets and hunter pets, whose names you can also customize. But now it's getting absurd.
The affected player was apparently reported several times by other players because of the “inappropriate” name of his animal companion. That wouldn't be unusual in itself – if it hadn't been the pet's original name. Apparently many players were bothered by the name “Carrion Bird” – in German: carrion bird and reported the player, who was then banned.

The “customer support” apparently saw no problem and banned the player automatically. We are curious to see what name the support gave the bird. But we'll probably only find out after the ban. Another possible explanation for the many reports is that bots in particular usually do not have renamed pets, but rather ones with original names and therefore many players report them.
