The fans of God of War We have been wondering for more than a decade where Kratos' limit is. The beginning of his story in 2005, marked by an epic battle against a hydra in the Aegean Sea, was a perfect preview for the carnage that would come years later with the installments.
The Spartan has taken many lives: humans, beasts, demigods, gods, titans, etc. He has gone to Hades several times and crawled out to continue with a vengeance that led him to completely destroy the pantheon of gods of Ancient Greece. In case you have forgotten, the latter were his paternal family. Things have changed a little in the new Norse chapter, God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok, although it is essentially the same.
Where is Kratos' limit? Does this man have no red lines? He has several, although the most striking are the swear words. Christopher Judge, the actor who plays him, joked in the recording studio and tried to sneak in a “My God, I'm the fucking God of War!” as a complaint when Freya sent him to pick some herbs to cure the wild boar. which Atreus previously wounded while learning to hunt.
And while this is a funny anecdote, it makes sense that Kratos isn't foul-mouthed. He grew up in Sparta, surrounded by Spartans in Ancient Greece, a place where discipline and education were imposed. Furthermore, the Greeks used to give a lot of importance to words.
With this in mind, it's no wonder Kratos scolded Atreus after Mimir called him out for being so foul-mouthed (God of War Ragnarok). The boy defends himself by saying that “it's just a word” and that he has heard many worse ones. Kratos tells him that the word itself is not the issue, but rather it is a symptom of him losing control. “Do you really want that to be your last word?” says the Spartan.
