The gaming industry is not doing well if you look at what is happening right now. The games that we enjoyed were cool during 2023 and as far back as 2024, but many developers and publishers ended up carrying out “restructuring” which is used as euphemism for mass dismissal. Some even ended up being closed. In the midst of this situation, at least many Japanese developers have found a way to survive. Even for Capcom, which has been “panning for gold” over the last few years, its ecosystem is ready to appear more tempting.
After increasing salaries by around 30% for their employees in April 2022, Capcom has again announced a salary increase policy. New employees who successfully join Capcom will immediately be offered a 25% higher salary, from previously 235,000 Yen per month to now 300,000 Yen per month starting in the 2025 fiscal year. Meanwhile, employees who already work at Capcom will get a 5% increase and a “1x special payment” bonus. Capcom calls this increase an investment in human resources as well as an extra initiative to recruit top talent.
Capcom will again increase the salaries of their employees in Japan.
Capcom itself is currently preparing to release Dragon's Dogma 2 which should be available at the end of March 2024. How about you? Interested in pursuing a career at Capcom if the opportunity arises?
