Digital Foundry has published a new video where he offers an examination of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions Of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remakewhich unfortunately are not entirely convincing, especially the conversion for Series S.
As explained in the video, the remake was carried out with the help ofUnreal Engine 5 and employing some of the advanced engine technologies such as Nanite and Lumen. All assets have been recreated from scratch, animations have improved, as have textures and cutscenes. The result is visually good, however, like other titles made with the same engine, compromises were necessary for the console versions.
As usual we find two graphics modes, one that aims for a higher resolution and the other at 60 fps. There Quality mode offers a dynamic resolution ranging from 1260p to 1620p for PS5 and Xbox Series In short, we are far from 4K, but on the other hand the framerate is stable at 30fps on almost all occasions and for this reason it is the preset recommended by Digital Foundry.
In fact, with the Performance mode, the resolution drops to native 1080p on both consoles, for the benefit of a higher framerate, but also very unstable, so much so that it can oscillate between 35 and 60 fps. In this sense, Xbox Series
On Xbox Series S the resolution can drop to 454p
The version Xbox Series S necessarily required further compromises. The Quality mode is also the best in this case, although it has a resolution that can go down to 454p but in most cases settles at 720p.
With Performance mode, however, the game tends in most cases to 454p, with a clear deterioration in image quality. In all of this, the framerate problems seen on PS5 and Xbox Series
Despite not excellent optimization on consoles, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake received excellent ratings from the international press. In this regard, if you haven't already done so, we suggest you read our review.
