Die Anime and manga world mourns the loss of one of their own greatest legends. At the age of 68, the Japanese illustrator and author Akira Toriyama died on March 1st. In his long creative career, the mangaka has created numerous world-famous projects. The most famous work is probably the manga series Dragon Ballthat before almost 40 years celebrated her debut. The news that Akira Toriyama passed away was announced on Friday morning on the official website X account (formerly Twitter) shared by Dragon Ball.
“We are deeply saddened to inform you that manga creator Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1st as a result of an acute subdural hematoma. (…) We deeply regret that he still has several works in progress with great enthusiasm (…) Nevertheless, he left the world many manga works and creations.”
“Thanks to the support of so many people around the world, he has been able to pursue his creative pursuits for over 45 years. We hope that Akira Toriyama's unique worlds will be loved by everyone for a long time to come.”

In addition to his creations in the anime and manga cosmos, Akira Toriyama was also active in the video game world. This included, among other things, his participation as Character designer on the titles of the Dragon Quest series von Square Enix. Dragon Ball Super: Broly introduces popular character into canon
Akira Toriyama, creator of the Dragon Ball anima series, is currently working on the 20th film in the series. This should now officially add the fan-favorite character Broly into the canon of the series.
