Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth found great success because it was developed exclusively for PlayStation 5 (here is our review). This was revealed by the producer of the Square Enix franchise, Yoshinori Kitase, who in a recent interview spoke about some rather interesting aspects of the new RPG blockbuster.
Speaking to the US newspaper Washington Post, Yoshinori Kitase underlined that the game might not have been so successful: “If it hadn't been on a single platform, the world map wouldn't have been perfect and the game design would have had to regress in a way significant“.
The producer of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth explained how “The long exclusive development made life easier for the team to focus on building a world with diverse geography, internal and external areas populated with activities, friendly and hostile characters, all represented without interruptions in the 'loading screen'”. Finally, on the decision to launch the game only on PS5: “This choice it prevented the team from carrying out tasks that were too laborious and time-consuming, especially in terms of time. We didn't have to retrain the staff and we managed to transfer all the required tasks, there were no losses of time or problems.”
A few days before the release, critics had already promoted the work done by the developer team regarding Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. If you didn't know it yet, to be able to install the game will require approximately 150GB of free space on PS5. All without taking into account the space needed to download any patches and future DLC or expansions.
