The Sea of Thieves developers continue to develop their project, which will celebrate its 6th anniversary on March 20 this year. The game has a huge fan following on Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and PC, and soon it will be released on Playstation 5 – with support for cross-platform multiplayer and shared saves.
In the last few updates, the developers have made a number of steps towards Sea of Thieves newcomers, as well as players who simply want to explore the world of the game without being distracted by PvP opportunities. Previously, multiplayer was a mandatory component of a pirate adventure, but in December 2023, the Safer Seas mode appeared in the game, which allows you to explore the world alone or in company with friends without third-party players. This mode brought many players back to Sea of Thieves who do not like the situation on PvP servers.
In March 2024, as announced by Rare, another important update for Sea of Thieves will be released. It will remove the requirement for a Game Pass Core (or Game Pass Ultimate) subscription to play single-player games. In Safer Seas mode, you can explore the game world alone without the subscriptions required to access multiplayer on Xbox consoles. If the player wants to invite his friends to Safer Seas or go to a PvP server, then a Game Pass Core subscription will be required.
In addition to the above change, the Sea of Thieves March update will improve the anti-cheat system.
