A few weeks after the appointment with the news on Final Fantasy 16, which will be among the protagonists of PAX East, Naoki Yoshida returns to discuss the action-RPG and the possibility that further DLC will be announced in the future.
Interviewed by Game Informer, Yoshida did not rule out that Final Fantasy 16 could receive other DLCs in addition to the two already presented by Square-Enix. However, he specified, the development team may want to undertake “new challenges” and therefore dedicate themselves to projects separate from the dark fantasy JRPG.
“That's a tough question,” Yoshida says of the arrival of more DLC. “My honest answer is, 'I don't know at the moment,' but at the same time, the possibilities are not entirely zero. I don't want to rule out any real possibilities at this time. The reason is that we put a lot of effort into it […] and time to create this game […] and we've put in a lot of cutting edge technology. And because of that, we were able to gain a lot of experience, a lot of knowledge, that we can eventually apply to our next project or title. So my honest feeling is that the team wants to take on a new challenge and move on to a different project, maybe a completely new game, maybe a completely new form of entertainment. I think, in the end, this could be the best path not only for the players, but also for us. But once again, I repeat, the possibilities of further DLC content for Final Fantasy XVI cannot be ruled out.”
Who knows what Clive's voice actor will think of these statements, who can't wait to reinterpret the protagonist of Final Fantasy 16.
