Bitcoin boasts a new record. For the first time in the history of this cryptocurrency, its rate exceeded 70 thousand dollars. The maximum figure recorded by the Coindesk resource was $70,136, and at the moment you will have to pay about $68.5 thousand for 1 BTC. Compared with the indicators of early January, the Bitcoin rate showed more than a one-and-a-half-fold increase, as a result of which the capitalization of the cryptocurrency exceeded $1.3 trillion.
Along with Bitcoin, the rates of other cryptocurrencies (altcoins) are also growing. For example, Ethereum is now around the $4,000 mark, having demonstrated a 1.7-fold increase compared to the beginning of this year. Let us remind you that mining of this cryptocurrency ended in September 2022. Before this, miners bought up any video cards that were at least somehow suitable for Ethereum mining, and became one of the reasons for the shortage of 3D gaming accelerators.
Bitcoin will likely continue to set records for the foreseeable future. Approximately in mid-April, the reward for finding a block in the Bitcoin network will decrease, or the so-called halving. In previous times, it was accompanied by a rapid rise in the cryptocurrency rate.
