In our preview of Star Wars: Unlimited we revealed all the secrets of the new card game from Fantasy Flight Games and Lucasfilm Ltd., but so far there have been few lucky people who have been able to try it live. Only today, in fact, Star Wars: Unlimited has officially launched all over the world, including Italy!
Star Wars: Unlimited is available from Friday 8 March in all hobby stores and specialized retailers, with the launch of the first cardgame expansion, “Scintilla di Rebellion”. Unlike other collectible card games, the Fantasy Flight TCG is available from the very first set in one release completely translated into Italian: If you want to know more, we recommend you take a look at our interview with the creators of Star Wars: Unlimited.
“Spark of Rebellion” includes 250 cards and passes, including some very rare variants with alternative and extended illustrations of the main Star Wars characters, from Luke Skywalker to Darth Vader, passing through Princess Leia, Boba Fett and Han Solo. In parallel with the announcement of the first expansion, Fantasy Flight Games and Lucasfilm Ltd. have also announced that they will launch three Star Wars: Unlimited sets each yeartherefore one every four months approximately.
At the moment, there are numerous Star Wars: Unlimited products available in Italy: the first is the Prerelease Pack, which contains six packs, a quick guide for the game, a deck case and the tokens needed to start playing; then we have it Starter Deck for two players, which contains two ready-to-play decks, dedicated respectively to Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader; finally there are the classic sachets, which can also be purchased in boxes of 24 packets each. Each sachet contains the beauty of 16 carteof which 9 Commons, 2-3 Uncommons, a Rare or Legendary, a base, a Leader and a Foil of any rarity.
As we anticipated in our preview, Star Wars: Unlimited is an innovative cardgame for numerous reasons. The first is undoubtedly the presence of two parallel battlefields, one terrestrial and the other space, in which players can compete with each other. The second is the abolition of the traditional turn system, which is instead replaced by a more dynamic alternation of Rounds and Phases, in which players can perform just one action before it's your opponent's turn. If these premises intrigue you, the advice is to give the TCG set in the Far, Far Away Galaxy a chance!
