Samsung will shake up the connected ring market this year. The Korean manufacturer has already presented its Galaxy Ring expected in the second half of 2024. If the firm has not yet revealed all its characteristics or its selling price, Samsung's strike force should nevertheless provide a big boost. foot in the anthill of connected health rings.
Until now market leader, the Finnish manufacturer Oura is aware of the strength of its new Korean competitor and is now seeking to extend the availability of its ring. Even before the launch of the Galaxy Ring, Oura announced this week a major change regarding its economic model.
Oura partners with Amazon
While Oura Ring rings were until now only available on its website, Oura has announced that it is partnering with Amazon to make its rings available on the e-commerce platform:
Starting today, Amazon customers in the United States can discover a selection of Oura smart accessories. Consumers can experience both the Oura Ring Horizon and the Oura Ring Heritage in the Oura brand store on Amazon.
Concretely, the two versions of the Oura Ring 3 – which only differ in their shape – are now available directly for purchase on the American version of Amazon. For the moment, no launch has been announced for Oura customers outside the United States who will still have to go through the official website of the Finnish brand. Like most connected rings, Oura offers a ring sizer to its customers so that they can try different sizes before making their choice. Oura specifies that this ring sizer will also be offered by Amazon US, at a price of 10 dollars.
Oura Ring sales which have accelerated in recent months
Paradoxically, it seems that Samsung's announcement of the Galaxy Ring does not slow down Oura's activity, on the contrary. In a second blog post published this Saturday, the Finnish brand explains its current delivery delays due to the success of its rings: “The last few months have been extraordinary and unexpected for us. Demand for the Oura Ring is higher than we anticipated and we need time to catch up.”
Oura is currently the market leader in connected rings and, now that Samsung has started communicating about its own model, consumers are turning to the solutions currently available on the market. To some extent, Oura is also benefiting from the launch of the Galaxy Ring, which put the spotlight on this type of device.
