If you're looking for an alternative military shooter to the accessible Counter-Strike 2 or Escape from Tarkov – but shy away from the complexity of a military sim like Operation Flashpoint or Arma – the new Extraction FPS Exfil could be something for you. The Misultin Studios team is behind it and started the first playtest on Steam yesterday.
Exfil: Tactical extraction shooter combines elements of Counter-Strike and Tarkov
Exfil wants to combine intuitive shooter gameplay in the style of Counter-Strike 2 with a squad-based tactics atmosphere of an Escape from Tarkov. In the new extraction shooter, four teams are dropped on a single map. Your goal is to find and extract hidden intelligence information. The first team to complete this task – or eliminate all opposing teams – wins the match. This gameplay loop is also somewhat reminiscent of Hunt Showdown. Exfil's first playtest launched on Steam includes three maps, integrated VoIP, an inventory system and the four-team Extraction game mode.

“There's a whole market of Milsim players out there who aren't interested in run-and-gun Twitch experiences, but also only have an hour or two a day to play a few rounds with their online friends play,” designer Chris Greig told PCGamesN. “We all come from Arma and Squad backgrounds and can see that these games are asking too much too. Our goal is to create a home for the lost souls stuck in the middle. This is the game that we want to play.”
Developer Misultin Studios also hints that there will be additional modes in the future, such as a PvP mode, a co-op mode or even a PvE mode. Exfil is set to launch in Steam Early Access soon. When exactly that will be has not yet been announced.
