We return with a new analysis of Dragon Ball Z in which we will address everything that happened in chapter 229 of the series! Goku accepts Majin Vegeta's challenge!
We are here, like every Sunday, with a new analysis of Dragon Ball Z. Our reviews of the episodes do not stop and now we will dive into chapter 229 of the series, a capital installment in which Goku decided to accept the duel Majin Vegeta.
As you can imagine, we are immersed in the The Buu Saga, one of the best arcs in all of anime, enjoying an audiovisual technical invoice that drives you crazy. The episode at hand is a true technical marvel!
Dragon Ball Dai Budokai is the encyclopedia of Goku video games
The book Dragon Ball Dai Budokai, the full-color encyclopedia of Goku's video games, is now available! And how precious!
Of course, although it is beautiful from beginning to end, it abuses the recycling of shots and static scenes, motivated by the tension that the episode wants to convey (with great success, by the way). But what is happening in this part of the series?
The good of Vegeta has succumbed to the spell of Babidi and has become a beast capable of annihilating the innocent public at the martial arts tournament. However, the prince of the saiyans is fully aware of what he is doing…
And so begins episode 229 of Dragon Ball Z, with a Majin Vegeta challenger whose only objective is to confront Goku. However, the saiyan raised on Earth is not up to the task of fighting him, so seeing the refusal…
Majin Vegeta decides to attack the public again, destroying another stand full of innocent people! This second attack unleashes Goku's anger, who cannot believe what his eyes are seeing:
In this way, Goku transforms into Super Saiyan and decides to accept Vegeta's challenge, on the condition that Babidí teleports them to a desert place where more fatalities will be avoided. Given these words, Shin He reminds Goku that if he fights Majin Vegeta, Majin Buu will end up waking up.
Thus, Shin stands between the two saiyans, but… Goku is so determined that he does not hesitate to attack Shin if necessary! We are facing one of the great scenes of the arc, as it is impressive to see such a serious Goku, capable of going over Shin to face Majin Vegeta.
Finally, Shin gives up and they are teleported to the desert. Once there, Shin and Gohan They decide to enter Babidí's ship to destroy Buu before he hatches from his egg. Glimpsing the plan, Babidí orders Majin Vegeta to finish them off, but…
The saiyan is fully aware of his actions and refuses to follow the dark wizard's orders! It turns out that the saiyan has allowed himself to be possessed to satisfy his revenge with Goku, a score that he has been trying to settle for years. Goku is perplexed by Vegeta's toxic pride, but does not hesitate to unleash all his power to start the fight of the century.
CURIOSITIES!
1- When Babidí uses his mental control with Majin Vegeta, we see something unique that was not highlighted in the manga. Akira Toriyama. The M on Vegeta's forehead starts to burn!
This simple effect that you can see just below enhances the idea of possession, as well as the resistance that Vegeta exerts against the witcher. What a drawing!
2- On the other hand, in this image below we clearly see, for the first time in the series, Goku's transformation into Super Saiyan 2, with those characteristic rays. Do you remember when we had an appetizer of this?
Exactly, during the fight between Goku and Yakon. It was at the end of said affront when we saw Goku unleash a remnant of Super Saiyan 2 to finish off the monster.
And so we finish the analysis of episode 229 of Dragon Ball Z! What did you think of this installment of Toei Animation? Did you remember her with this beautiful aesthetic?
For our part, tomorrow we will return, like every day, with a new delivery Z in Hobby Consoles. Kai, Kai!
VALUATION:
A superb episode on an audiovisual level, with rich music and excellent drawing in almost every frame. Seeing Goku this serious, even facing Shin, is impressive. Vegeta's toxic pride also leaves one frozen. It's a shame that the episode barely moves forward because of the static and recycled shots.
THE BEST:
The soundtrack is a spectacle. The drawing and animation are superb. Goku's attitude towards Shin. Vegeta's toxic pride.
WORST:
The plot barely advances throughout the chapter. Abuse of static and recycled shots that hinder the rhythm.
