That was probably a little too much to imagine: at the end of January, Avalanche and Warner announced that the previous PS5 exclusive content for Hogwarts Legacy would also be released for the PC. The bone of excitement was the addition “along with additional updates and features for the game”. This ominous announcement caused a lot of desire. Apparently for too many.
Exaggerated expectations for the summer update?
The Avalanche community manager is currently trying to limit the damage on Twitter/X. Chandler Wood at least tries to regulate the excessively high expectations somewhat and speaks of a “small gesture of appreciation”. Here is the complete translated text:
“Hello everyone! We're so excited that you're all looking forward to the free update for Hogwarts Legacy this summer. We love seeing all the guesses and hopes about what will be part of this update, and while we're not ready yet To talk about this, I'd like to set some expectations about what we're working on. Our original wording of “additional updates and features to the game” was very deliberate. This update is a small gesture of our appreciation to our players for the great response to this Game”.

Among other things, there were obvious requests in the community such as a photo mode or New Game Plus to justify a “GOTY Edition”. But there were also other wishes such as an expansion, new missions, opponents or spells and even the wish for Quidditch in the game. Since Warner is already working on a standalone game about sports in the Harry Potter universe, this is unlikely to find its way into the game. However, it can be assumed that Avalanche will at least promote replayability in order to bridge the way to Hogwarts Legacy 2, which will then be developed based on Unreal Engine 5.
