Revealed to the general public in 2017, Timothée Chalamet is probably one of the most prominent actors of the moment thanks to Dune second part. Aged only 28, the French-American actor has received a lot of advice on how to succeed in his career, and one of those came directly from Leonardo DiCaprio.
Timothée Chalamet: the new darling of Hollywood
After his television debut in New York, Judicial Police, Timothée Chalamet moved on to television productions and moved to the theater. From 2014, we find him in the cinema in Men, Women and Children but also in Interstellar, where he plays the main character's son. A solid start to his career, which will accelerate considerably when he meets Luca Guadagnino, a director working on Call Me by Your Name, adaptation of a novel by André Arciman. First presented in independent festivals, the film gained visibility and was found both at the Golden Globes and at the Oscars through the BAFTAs.
From then on, Timothée Chalamet became very popular and we found him in Lady Bird, The King, The Daughters of Doctor March and The French Dispatch. The year 2021 will then mark a new turning point in his career, since he is both starring in Don't Look Up by Adam McKay and Dune by Denis Villeneuve. In the latter, he embodies nothing less than the main character, namely Paul Atreides. A real hit, Dune created real expectations, recently satisfied with the release of the second part. It's difficult to be interested in cinema without regularly seeing Timothée Chalamet, especially since we saw him in the role of Willy Wonka in Paul King's Wonka.
Superhero movies? It’s a “why not” for Timothée Chalamet
It was during the filming of Don't Look Up, a film in which scientists have all the difficulty in the world to convince the public that the Earth is going to be hit head-on by a meteorite capable of destroying everything, that the actor met and spoke at length with Leonardo DiCaprio. The latter, one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, did not fail to give some advice to Timothée Chalamet. He thus advised Chalamet to never touch hard drugs and not to participate in the filming of a film dedicated to superheroes.
All the actors who made this choice will appreciate, like Robert Downey Junior who completely relaunched his career with Iron Man in 2008 and won an Oscar this year. Either way, it seems that Timothée Chalament has decided not to follow Leonardo DiCaprio's advice for the superheroic part. Recently interviewed by the New York Times, he declared that he would be willing to star in a superhero movie if it was made by the right director with a “perfect” script
At the age of 12, after attending my sister Pauline's ballet, I asked my mother and my grandmother to accompany me to the cinema to see the film (The Dark Knight, editor's note) (. ..). I left the session transformed, and I am very serious. Heath Ledger's performance in this film was so visceral and viral for me that I caught the acting bug.
Vanity Fair also recalls that Timothée Chalamet did almost everything to become Spider-Man. He auditioned twice for the role that ultimately went to Tom Holland, and was so excited to join the MCU that his agent had to stop him from going back. The latter would have reminded him of the story of Sean Young, who would have pissed everyone off enormously for playing Catwoman in Tim Burton's Batman, without success.
