Even if “Persona 3 Reload” receives an expansion pass, the female protagonist is still missing. The developers have now given the reason for this.
The developers at Atlus recently had one Expansion Pass announced for the “Persona 3 Reload” released on February 1st. Through this, among other DLCs, the epilogue “The Answer”, which is often requested by fans, comes into play as “Episode Aigis”.
What is still missing, however, is the female protagonist that users could choose in “Persona 3 Portable” for the PSP and PC. As the developers stated in a new interview, this will remain the case. The female player character will reportedly never appear in Persona 3 Reload.
Developers at Atlus had actually considered female characters
In a conversation with Persona Central, Kazuhisa Wada, the producer of the “Persona” series, gave the reasons for the character's absence. According to Wada, the option at Atlus was considered. However, the decision was made that it would have been far too much work to implement the female protagonist in “Persona 3 Reload”.
“It pains me to say this…but unfortunately there is no way to include the female protagonist,” said Kazuhisa Wada in the interview. “Of course we also thought about including them, but the hurdles were too high. A long development time was expected and the costs would have been many times higher than for Episode Aigis. In addition, as a Persona team, we have the task of working not only on remakes, but also on completely new works. Our employees are working together on future developments that you can look forward to, so we ask for your understanding.”
The Persona 3 Reload Expansion Pass includes three DLCs released in waves. The first DLC will be released on March 12th and brings some new music to the game. The second wave will be released in May and the third DLC with the epilogue “The Answer”, now known as “Episode Aigis”, will arrive in September. The Expansion Pass is released for all platforms and is free for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
