As you well know, i PlayStation 2 games they are not yet playable on the most recent Sony consoles and there are many enthusiasts who would like to see the PS2 classics in the PS Plus Premium catalogue, not to mention those who wish to be able to play with the disc editions in their possession. However, it would seem that something is moving.
In fact, over the last few hours, there has been a lot of discussion about the interview Implicit Conversions to the microphones of the Time Extension portal. For those who don't know, Implicit Conversions is the company that has already dealt with the conversions of the great PSOne and PSP classics for the most modern Sony consoles in the past. According to what was stated in the interview, Implicit Conversions would be working on a emulatore PlayStation 2 to allow PS4 and PS5 users to enjoy the old glories of the console from the early 2000s.
Here is the followingexcerpt from the interview at the center of attention:
“Our clients also include Sony Interactive Entertainment/PlayStation, with whom we are working to bring PS1, PS2 and PSP games to PS4 and PS5. Some of our partners and publishers include Disney Interactive, Bandai Namco, Square Enix, Konami , Capcom, Team17 and Bend Studio.”
Immediately after the article was published, word began to spread among gamers and the portal promptly removed this statement from the interview. It is therefore unclear whether it is a simple typo or the reveal of a feature that the Japanese giant wants to keep hidden for a future announcement with great fanfare, perhaps during a State of Play or a PlayStation Showcase.
